OpenELIS
About This Project
This is a school project for a real client, OpenElis. I worked with a developer and 2 designers to create an on-brand website design representative of the mission and services of OpenELIS.
understanding the current site experience
The OpenELIS Foundation is a global community of professionals in laboratory science, public health, health informatics, and software development. Their core values are to use Open Source and Collaboration as the driving force in developing community based, innovative solutions that support the informatics needs and best practices of environmental, clinical, and public health laboratories.
User pain points
Based on the previous user experience survey about the old site, here are the top issues users are experiencing when they visit the current site:
After visiting the whole website, users are still confused about what OpenElis does and how it works.
The navigation is hard to follow. Users have a hard time finding the information they're looking for
The site doesn't provide users with support and contact information when they need help and further information.
